Forest Group Credits Strong Foundation as Key to Being Named One of Canada’s Best Managed Companies
TORONTO, ONTARIO (March 10, 2016)
As president of the Forest Group of Companies Domenic Gurreri knows it takes a strong foundation to build a successful business. That’s why he credits team effort as key to his company being named one of Canada’s Best Managed.
“Earning the title of one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies is an immense honour and a great achievement for our employees,” said Gurreri. “It’s the commitment and hard work of our team that’s elevated our company to this level. We can’t thank them enough for their efforts toward reaching this milestone.”
The Canada’s Best Managed Companies program is one of the most prestigious business honours in the country. Sponsored by Deloitte, CIBC, the National Post, Queen’s University Smith School of Business and MacKay CEO Forums, it celebrates excellence in business demonstrated by Canadian-owned and -managed companies with revenues over $10 million, and recognizes performance and sustained growth as well as the efforts of the entire organization. Hundreds of applicants from across Canada apply for this designation every year, with only those meeting the award’s strict criteria earning the distinction.
“Best Managed companies embrace innovation, seize opportunities and inspire talent. They really set the bar high,” said Peter Brown, partner at Deloitte and co-leader of Canada’s Best Managed Companies program. “I would like to recognize the entire efforts of Forest Group. It takes a dedicated effort from an entire team to focus on a core vision, create stakeholder value and excel in the global economy to achieve this level of success.”
Founded in 1994, Forest Group is a multifaceted contracting company that provides a variety of construction services, including asphalt paving, resurfacing and repair; concrete curbs and sidewalks; site servicing, such as drainage and excavation; and snow removal and de-icing services. Its clientele includes various municipalities in Ontario such as Vaughan, Pickering and Stouffville, as well as major corporations that include Canadian Tire and McDonald’s and retail, industrial and office landlords.
“CIBC congratulates Forest Group on being named one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies – a reflection of its strong leadership, sound business planning and focus on growth,” said Jon Hountalas, executive vice-president of Business and Corporate Banking at CIBC. “We’re proud to celebrate this outstanding achievement and applaud the entire team for their contributions to the Canadian marketplace.”
For Andrea Caruso, the head of business development at Forest Group, winning the Best Managed title is validation that their company’s focus on superior quality and customer service is what will lead to continued success.
“We’re driven to provide the best service in the industry so our customers can find the results they need,” said Caruso. “It’s on these pillars of quality, integrity and service that we’ve been able to establish such long-standing relationships with our clients, and they’re principles we’ll continue to use to take our company into the future.”
Forest Group will be honoured alongside other winners of the 2015 Canada’s Best Managed Companies award, as well as Requalified, Gold Standard, Gold Requalified winners and Platinum Club members at the annual Canada’s Best Managed Companies gala in Toronto on April 12, 2016. On the same date, the Best Managed symposium will address leading-edge business issues that are key to the success of today’s business leaders.
About Canada’s Best Managed Companies
Canada’s Best Managed Companies continues to be the mark of excellence for Canadian-owned and managed companies with revenues over $10 million. Every year since the launch of the program in 1993, hundreds of entrepreneurial companies have competed for this designation in a rigorous and independent process that evaluates their management skills and practices. The awards are granted on five levels: 1) Best Managed winner (one of the new winners selected each year); 2) Requalified member (repeat winners retain the Best Managed designation for two additional years, subject to annual operational and financial review); 3) Gold Standard winner (after three consecutive years of maintaining their Best Managed status, these winners have demonstrated their commitment to the program and successfully reapplied for the designation); 4) Gold Requalified member (Gold Standard winners may requalify for two additional years, subject to annual operational and financial review); 5) Platinum Club member (winners that maintain Best Managed status for a minimum of six consecutive years).
